## It started with the edit

We started building BlitzReels with a browser-based video editor that brought projects, uploaded videos, transcription, and captions together. The idea still feels right to us: you should be able to work on a recording and its words in the same place.

Working on the picture in one place and the transcript somewhere else makes it harder to judge the video as a whole. Bringing them together gives you a chance to notice whether the words are readable, whether the pacing feels right, and whether the result says what you wanted to say.

## There was plenty left to build

This was the beginning of development, with trimming, richer overlays, and reliable exports still ahead of us. Over the following months, we worked on the timeline, caption styling, and finished video exports, which later became the editing tools behind our clipping and video creation features.

That connection matters even when you only want to make a short, straightforward video. It means the recording, its text, and your editing decisions can stay part of one project as you work, rather than becoming separate versions to keep track of.
