Add a hook, a title, or a quick note to your video with text overlays you can edit separately from the spoken captions.

## Say something the recording doesn’t

Sometimes a video needs a little introduction before the speaker gets there. We added text overlays for headlines, hooks, and notes, so you could give viewers that context without putting extra words into the transcript.

Spoken words and on-screen context don’t always do the same job. A person can open a clip halfway through a conversation, so a short headline helps you explain what they’re about to watch without rewriting what the speaker said.

## Part of your composition

The new text layers joined the video composition and selection controls, separate from captions that follow the speech. A title can introduce the idea while the subtitles keep doing their job, and you can edit each one on its own.

For a tutorial, that could be the name of the task being demonstrated; for an excerpt, it could be the topic of the conversation. Keeping that text independent gives you room to introduce the clip while the captions stay faithful to the recording.
