Motion graphics are animated graphic design elements used in video, including moving text, logos, icons, transitions, lower thirds, charts, and callouts that explain or emphasize information on screen.

Motion graphics combine graphic design with animation to make information easier to understand in a video. Unlike raw footage, motion graphics are digitally created elements such as animated titles, logo reveals, progress bars, waveform visuals, kinetic typography, explainer diagrams, and outro screens. They differ from visual effects, which usually manipulate live-action footage, although both can appear in the same edit. For short-form video, the most useful motion graphics are practical: animated captions, branded lower thirds, quick callouts, speaker labels, and simple visual cues that keep mobile viewers oriented without cluttering the frame.
